From Firefighting to Self-Reliance: The Birth of the Harada Method Toastmasters Club

Founder, Harada Method Toastmasters Club

For forty-six years, my world was shaped by aerospace engineering and technology. In that industry, precision, long-term planning, and structure aren’t just good habits—they are requirements. In the earlier days of my career, I lived by those principles. I was extremely organized. I planned everything. Chaos simply was not acceptable.

But life has a way of compounding. As my professional duties expanded and personal responsibilities grew, my schedule became increasingly packed. Slowly, almost imperceptibly, I slipped out of proactive planning and into what I call “firefighting” mode. Instead of building the future, I was constantly reacting to the urgent problems of the present. The daily habits, structure, and disciplined reflection that had once anchored me became harder and harder to maintain.

My turning point came after thirteen years in Toastmasters International. I was invited to a book club, where I was introduced to The Harada Method: The Spirit of Self-Reliance by Takashi Harada. Reading it was like looking into a mirror of my past self. It reminded me of the profound impact that structured discipline and self-reliance have on long-term success.
Determined to fully integrate these principles back into my life, I pursued and earned my Harada Method certification, training directly under the #1 Harada Method Coach and partner of Mr. Takashi Harada himself.
That was when the vision became clear. I saw a powerful opportunity to merge two life-changing paths of personal development:

  1. Toastmasters: The ultimate arena for communication, public speaking, and leadership practice.
  2. The Harada Method: The gold standard for discipline, reflection, coaching, and self-reliance.

The Harada Method Toastmasters Club is the realization of that dream. This club is designed to be far more than just a frequent meeting place. It is a supportive, structured community built on a two-step philosophy: develop yourself first, and then, when you are ready, coach and develop others. Here, our members practice speaking, build unshakeable confidence, receive elite coaching, and ultimately learn how to guide others toward their own success.
If you are tired of simply “firefighting” your way through life and are ready to reclaim your structure, your discipline, and your purpose, we invite you to join us on this journey.
